Real life Avengers at Pehchaan The Street School
“Avengers Assemble “
Having grown up watching Marvel I have been a big fan of the Avengers, their teamwork, their unique powers and most of all their stories and individuality.
In "The Avengers", these superheroes receive guidance from characters like Nick Fury and come together to fight the evil cause.
To be honest, I bet we have been in a phase where we want to be like the heroes in "The Avengers."We all have been fascinated by them, whether it's Iron Man’s intelligence, Hulk or Thor’s Strength, Captain America’s leadership etc. Every member of “The Avengers “brings something unique to the table and faces their enemies without giving up.
While they may be fictional, being a real-life hero is a blessing. Heroism doesn’t lie in saving the world from aliens it lies in making a difference in society.
Just like at Pehchaan The Street School, a non-profit organisation dedicated to educating underprivileged children, the teacher, the volunteers, the interns, the community members, and even the students all come together to work collaboratively to empower those underprivileged children and make a change. They rely on each other and frequently engage with local communities for support. They actively work towards the upliftment of underprivileged children, ensuring their holistic development through quality education and personality development.
Members of the Avengers possess different and unique abilities. Similarly, every volunteer here contributes their skills and works closely with the Pehchaan The Street School's children to bring their talents and perspectives to the table and build confidence. They fight against poverty, lack of opportunity, education, and gender inequality.
Limited resources and, lack of access to education and skills force underprivileged children into unskilled jobs or child labour, they remain stuck in the cycle of poverty. Many girls from underprivileged families are expected to learn household chores and get married, further continuing the cycle . Therefore, organisations like Pechaan The Street School provide free and quality education to underprivileged children. They don’t just focus on academics but on the overall development of children and teach both boys and girls under the same roof with similar resources. They provide vocational training, finance literacy, workshops on personal hygiene, arts and crafts etc for the holistic development of children.
From elementary education to vocational studies, they have emphasized the value of education as a fundamental right.
REAL-LIFE AVENGERS
For almost 10 years now, Pehchaan The Street School with 10 centres that provide free and quality education to more than 1600 underprivileged children, relies on crowdfunding for support and is a volunteer-driven organisation, many of whom are college and school students. Their motive is to make Education accessible to every child with a desire to learn.
The teachers and volunteers of Pehchaan The Street School are the real-life Nick Fury.
They provide guidance to children and help them realise and achieve their dreams. As no superhero fights alone Pehchaan The Street School is also supported by community members who provide funds and resources for the empowerment of Pehchaan The Street School’s children. They collaborate with like-minded people and organisations.
For instance recently on the occasion of Women’s Day, they joined hands with the We Women Foundation and introduced weekly meditation with dancing and singing sessions as a part of the weekend school curriculum for the Pehchaan The Street School’s children.
These collaborations show how people and organisations come together to work and uplift those in need.
CHALLENGES
As superheroes face many challenges in fighting with their enemies, Pehchaan The Street School also faces many challenges, like
Lack of Funding- This is the most important need for an NGO to work successfully.
Lack Of Resources- Due to lack of funding NGOs are unable to fulfil many requirements many times.
Need for more volunteers- Pehchaan The Street School is a volunteer-driven organisation and dedicated volunteers are one of the major needs.
Inadequate infrastructure - It affects the delivery of education and limits access for children.
